Balloon sinuplasty is one of the most common techniques we use in sinus surgery. Originally invented in 2006, it is a great tool for doing minimally invasive sinus surgery. Today’s post is a short video on how it is done and the results we see after dilation. The end of the video emphasizes the importance of using a computer for guiding the balloon. Computer guidance for balloon sinuplasty has been around since 2018. I can’t overemphasize the importance of choosing a surgeon who uses this technology. Many surgeons will say they don’t need it. That is because they have never used it or their facility doesn’t have it. I don’t know any surgeon who used computer guidance and returned to the old way.
