A very interesting article was just published. A complete link is at the bottom, but this is a brief summary.
The study was to determine if a daily multivitamin affected cognition in patients over 65 years of age.
Patients were given a daily multivitamin or a placebo. Each patient took cognitive tests at baseline and two years.
The study showed clear evidence of multivitamin benefits on global cognition and episodic memory. The magnitude of the effect on global cognition was equivalent to reducing cognitive aging by two years.
This study did not look at whether taking a multivitamin at an early age affected cognition at a later age.
My advice. Take a daily multivitamin. Just make sure you take a good one. The cheapest is likely cheap for a reason.
